Definition of Obesity
The levels of what can be called an obese
person have been debated with many changing
charts and definitions for many years. And
to this day I believe that are no
one defining definition of obesity.
The most accepted method of measuring weather
somebody is obese is the BMI
Body Mass Index.
Problems of Obesity
It is too often perceived that obesity
is simply a cosmetic problem, a problem
of the way in which someone looks. But of
course it is a very important health issue.
Looking good is of course important for
our self esteem and confidence, but being
obese can affect so much more.
Although it is important not to take your
appearance too seriously and to be content
with your body size and shape it is important
to maintain a healthy body as maintaining
a healthy body means feeling good, energised
and productive.
Obesity Becoming an Epidemic
Is been publicised that as many Americans
as one in three are obese based on their
BMI, being the 2nd highest cause of preventable
death. Obesity is a really issue and for
the majority is a health problem that can
be curbed.
